Born in Arizona, raised in Minnesota, and most at home in Philadelphia, Kinbrae holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and education from Bryn Mawr College and is a current University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education student, studying early childhood education. She is a DONA trained birth doula and has been volunteering with PALS since the spring of 2018. While her day job as a preschool teacher mainly involves zipping children’s coats and may not seem applicable to birth work, Kinbrae sees both as forms of care work and seeks to support each individual she encounters with patience, compassion, and understanding. Kinbrae has training in sexual assault advocacy and trauma informed care and is passionate about serving individuals who’ve experienced sexual harm. She strives to ensure birthing people and their loved ones feel safe, supported, and comfortable in pregnancy, labor, and the postpartum period. Kinbrae is also trained in breast/chest-feeding management but supports parents in all infant feeding choices and needs. She has experience supporting birthing people planning all types of births, from unmedicated labor and birth to scheduled cesarean, and everything in between. Kinbrae lives in North Philadelphia with her partner and an abundance of houseplants (her building does not allow cats).
