Meet the Doulas – California Wang

Cali discovered her passion for the amazing world of birth six years ago. She trained to be a doula in Chicago with DONA International in 2016 and has served as a doula for five women since then.  She has walked women through various settings, including birth centers, water births, hospital births, and C-sections.

Doula work is not about checking off boxes for Cali. Rather, it is about feeling out where the person is physically and emotionally. Cali personalizes care by providing hip squeezes, suggesting positional changes, giving back massages, coaching the partner, advocating for her, speaking courage and strength into her, etc.

Cali speaks fluent Mandarin, and is beginning to pick up Spanish. She will be graduating as a nurse at the end of 2018. In her spare time, she is usually outdoors biking and bird-watching, or with friends jamming out on the guitar and trying out new recipes. For more info, go to DoulaCalifornia.
